What does a Professional Pet Sitter do?
Most pets are less anxious when they are able to remain in their familiar home environments. Pet Sitters make this possible with daily visits to your home. Maintaining your pet’s regular routine of meals, walks, exercise, medications, and playtime is the best way to ensure that your pet stays stress- free during your absence. With a sitter, you avoid the kennel issue, and your pets will have more fun!

What other services does a Professional Pet Sitter provide?
A Pet Sitter cleans litter boxes and dog crates and reptile cages and bird cages and tarantula habitats. In addition, a Pet Sitter will bring in mail and newspapers, water plants, put out the trash, turn on the sprinklers, and adjust the lights and blinds to make your house look occupied. If a pet requires all-night company, a sitter will stay overnight.

Why hire a Pet Sitter when my neighbor will do it for free?

It is nice to have a friend offer to watch your pets and house. However, it is our calling; we are bonded and insured, we love animals and are trained to care for them, and you won’t be asked to return the favor down the road. Professional Pet Sitters take the responsibilities of watching your home and caring for your pets seriously.

How do I start the ball rolling?

We recommend that you contact us early in the trip-planning process, to guarantee your reservation.

How many times a day do you visit?
The number of times your sitter visits will be based your pet’s needs. Cats and other small animals are usually good with one(1) visit per day, but that will be up to you.

What areas do you service?
We offer our services to customers living in the following areas of Volusia County, Florida: Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, South Daytona, Daytona Beach Shores, Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, and New Smyrna Beach.

What can I expect during the initial consultation?
You, your pets, and your Pet Sitter will meet and become acquainted. You will discuss the personalized pet care and home care services needed, and complete the required paperwork. Please allow 20 to 45 minutes for this meeting, depending upon the depth of the consultation. Please feel free to print and fill out the forms ahead of time, if you wish. These include the Client Agreement, Client Contact Information, Entry Authorization, Pet Information, Pet Care, and Veterinarian Release.
At the conclusion of this meeting, the pet sitter will request a house key.

Is my personal information kept confidential?
Yes. We do not share any client information with any third parties. All documents are kept private and secured in our office. Only your Pet Sitter will have access to your personal information.

What happens during each visit?
This depends largely upon the services you and your sitter discussed and scheduled. We take your pets outside for a walk or potty break (unless they are to be kept inside, of course) and refresh their food and water, clean their litter box, and administer lots of love! Your sitter will text you an update along with a photo.

How much notice do you need for a cancellation?

Cancellations may be made up to 24 hours in advance of the first scheduled service. After that period, cancellation charges apply for each of the scheduled visits, at the rate of 50% of the full amount per each scheduled visit.

Do you take "last-minute" reservations?
Yes, but only if we already have your key and a completed set of forms. Services scheduled with less than 24 hours' notice will be billed at the standard rate plus an additional $3 per service scheduled.
In the event of a one-time emergency visit, you will be charged $40. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate last minute new clients, but it is always best to have that free initial consultation.

What kind of animals do you take care of?
We will care for almost any pet, as long as they do not pose a danger to the pet sitter.

Are you bonded and insured?
Our company is licensed,bonded, and insured. We can provide you with more information, as well as referrals. If you have questions, contact us.

Do you administer medication to pets?

Yes, our sitters will give medications in the form of pills, drops and/or injections with a vet’s written approval and instructions. The sitter will not give medication to any animal that poses a danger to him/he

Am I supposed to tip my sitter?
Tips are not necessary, but if you feel your sitter excelled in providing that extra-loving care, a tip of 10% to 20% is appropriate. Any tips that you choose to pay to your sitter, either cash, check, or any other form of payment, should go directly to your sitter.  If the tip is included in your credit/debit card  payment to 24-7 Watchdog, we will make sure your sitter gets it.

What if my property or pet is damaged while I am gone?
24-7WatchDog.com agrees to provide the services stated in our Agreement in a reliable, caring and trustworthy manner. However, we are only liable for claims arising from negligence or willful misconduct on our part. Due to the unpredictability of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for unusual mishaps (i.e., bites, furniture damage, spills, pet stains, etc.). Additionally, if your pets have access to the outside (a ripped screen, unsecured gate, etc) we are not responsible for injury, disappearance, or fines.

How will I be billed, and when is it due?
Clients who receive regularly scheduled services can elect to be billed either weekly or monthly. Others will be billed upon completions of services. Invoices are sent by email. You sitter can also provide you with a print copy. We accept cash, credit/debit cards, personal checks, and PayPal.


What do you do in case of an emergency?
It depends on the type of emergency. If something unforeseen happens and your regular sitter is unable to make it, we will dispatch another of our professional sitters. If an emergency occurs with your pets, we will first notify your emergency contacts, then we will contact your vet and transport your pet, if necessary. You will then be contacted about the situation. If there is an emergency with your home, we will call you, your emergency contact, and the appropriate authorities and/or a preferred repair service. Please see the Veterinarian Release, Client Contact Information, and the Agreement.

Will I always have the same Pet Sitter?
We believe there should be a comfortable relationship between you, your sitter, and your pets. We do our best to keep you and your sitter as a team. In the event that your Pet Sitter is not available, you will have the opportunity to meet his or her temporary replacement if you so choose.

Can I contact you while I'm away? Or will you contact me?
We provide our clients with e-mail, text message, or voice mail updates. The frequency of these updates is subject to the client's wishes. Your sitter will make note of this during the initial consultation.

What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured?
This is why Emergency Contact and Veterinary Information are so important!

What happens if my pet gets out of the yard?
All pets must wear an identification tag while under our care. We also require that all gates on your property be locked while you are away. The Client is responsible for any fines and fees that may result from a well-planned and smoothly executed break-out.

How will I get my keys back?
We do not like to leave your key hidden at your house. Upon completion of the scheduled services we will retain your key. You may request that your keys be returned to you, however, we prefer to retain at least one key in our office for future services.

Do I have to fill out new paperwork every time I need a Pet Sitter?
Nope. Once your agreement is on file, just call to schedule services.
